Forspoken story detailsįorspoken is a game about a young woman named Frey from New York City who is about to turn 21 years old. In our hands-on preview with Forspoken, we got the chance to try out some of the the layered spells in Frey's arsenal. In order to bring together realism with fantasy, Frey can use shards to paint patterns on her nails to make spellcasting more powerful. Gear can also be equipped such as necklaces and capes to improve stats. With RPG elements such as crafting and upgrades, you can improve a variety of Frey's skills. From long distance powers to close range spells, there's all manner of magical attacks to experiment with. Frey is outfitted with a variety of magical spells and combat styles that you can use and adapt depending on your preferred style of play. The latest look at the upcoming adventure offered insight into how magic is at the center of everything in Forspoken, from combat to exploration. The main character has a skill known as magic parkour, which allows her to run fast, leap great distances, and use the environment to swing across gaps and climb vertical inclines. Forspoken will also be available on PC via Steam, Epic Games and the Microsoft Store, but the demo only seems to be available for the PS5.What we've seen so far of Forspoken showcases how Frey will be a particularly athletic hero. Square Enix says the demo will give you a "deeper look at the devastating effects of the Break," which is the powerful force responsible for corrupting everything it touches, the Tantas included. There, she must find her way home while battling monsters and the Tantas, who were once "benevolent matriarchs now rule the lands as evil and maddened sorceresses." The game puts you in control of Frey Holland, a woman from New York City who's transported to another world called "Athia," where she gains magical abilities.
It looks like Square Enix truly is gearing up for the game's release this time, now that we're just a bit over a month before its latest launch schedule. The developer and publisher has released a demo for the PS5 game on the PlayStation Store at this years Game Awards, where it also announced that Final Fantasy XVI will be available for Sony's current-gen console on June 22nd, 2023.įorspoken was originally supposed to be released in May, but it got pushed back to October 11th and then again to January 24th next year. You can now play Square Enix's action RPG Forspoken after several launch delays - as a demo, that is.
